What does this test require of me?
What are 'significant aspects'?
These are notable things that you can find in the text. They are called LANGUAGE FEATURES. You have to search for them and be able to identify them. You can learn them from this website link >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
If you don't identify LANGUAGE FEATURES then you won't pass. Simple! You can practice finding them using random poems, short stories or news stories that you search up on the internet. Anything you want me to mark, I will. You just have to put the work in! |
What are unfamiliar texts?
The word 'unfamiliar' simply means that you will not have seen it before. It cannot be something that you have already studied. However, the examination format is very predictable so that you will know what to expect with the questions and with what you need to know.
Again, lots of practice prior to the examination day will help you lots. Again, I will mark your practice work and tell you how you are going.

So. . . What is close viewing?
'Close viewing' means that you look at the detail in the texts you are given. They are usually short and you have to dig out some deeper meaning. Close viewing requires you to pull apart the text for meaning, even if it doesn't at first seem as if there is anything there. I will teach you techniques so that you will know how to do this.
